The Shamokin - Coal Township commnity website was designed for both inhabitants of the local area, and for newcomers alike. Designed by Adam Krushinskie, a freshman Political Science major at Susquehanna University, this site was specifically designed for the purpose of representing the community and its culture.

Where is Shamokin?

Shamokin and its neighbors are part of the coal region and an area known as "Brush Valley".  The entire area of Shamokin is surrounded by Coal Township, which is also covered by this website. Nestled in the center of Brush Valley, Shamokin is like most of the other cities in the area, a Coal town. In fact, this is how Shamokin became famous, and many older citizens know about our history, will tell you that Shamokin is in the heart of coal country.
